Best Review on GAU 80102 Electric Panini Sandwich Nonstick

GAU 80102 Electric Panini Sandwich Nonstick

I bought the flat Panini press after reading the reviews for the ones with the ridges. I must say I love this press! When I'm in a rush or just don't feel like eating or cooking too much I just pop the press onto my counter top, grab some bread and whatever I want to melt in it and viola' one quick and easy meal. I've made plain grilled cheese, grilled cheese with Taylor Ham, bacon and/or tomato. I've spread tomato sauce on the bread and sprinkled with mozzerella cheese and even pepperoni for a pizza like panini. I've made french toast in it also. The top is hinged so that it adjusts in height for whatever you want to make. It's easy to clean and doesn't take up too much room in my cabinet. I would reccommend this product to anyone considering getting a panini press. Happy Toasting!!! ;0)

  1. For the money this is an excellent product. I agree with an earlier reviewer regarding the lack of ridges. Yes, the ridge pattern toasted into the bread is ascetically pleasing but makes for more difficult cleaning. I have no regrets purchasing this appliance.

  2. We looked around a lot for a flat panini press (with no ridges) but just couldn't find one till my wife found this. The ones with ridges are a pain to clean and the sandwiches cook unevenly. We use it almost every other day and it makes fabulous sandwiches. We wipe it clean with paper towels. It is easy to clean and use and not pricey !

  3. Best panini press ever. I have replaced the toaster, a frying pan, and stove top with this. Because the bottom plate has a small lip I can fry two or three eggs and use it in so many ways you cannot use a panini press that has two flat plates. I toast all types of bread on it. Easy clean up and slim profile for easy storage. love it.

  4. OTHER MACHINE: We bought and used another nice panini maker. That one is sturdy and worked well. But it's grill plates have deep ridges that
    1. burn the food at the ridge before the food at the groove is warm
    2. destroy the bread.

So even though we already had a griller that works, we bought...

THIS MACHINE: We bought this one because it's GRILL PLATES ARE FLAT, THEY HAVE NO RIDGES, so it heats the sandwiches evenly and very quickly, and squashes them flat. Oh yeah! Perfect.

BUY THIS for sandwiches. Excellent, excellent sandwiches.

DO NOT BUY THIS as a grill for burgers, steaks, etc. There's no fat run off channel.

BEWARE Don't get confused. Imusa also makes a Cuban Sandwich panini maker, that has ridges.

Function: On and Off. No heat setting. Top plate is 375 degrees F, bottom plate 350 degrees F.

  5. I spent months deciding what press was right for me.... grill marks vs no grill marks.

I decided that the grill marks really just dented the bread and made clean-up harder.

This press heats up in 1 minute and grills a perfect sandwich in 2 minutes. I love everything about it. I hate cleaning, and this thing is as low-maintenance as it gets. Cheese can melt over and burn without worrying about it sticking to the grill.

I would recommend this Imusa press to anyone.

  6. Alright, let me tell you, I've tried THE ALL. haha.

Flat surface, not grooved. This is HUGE. It's also Non-Stick. The grooves are for newbies and the flat ones make your life way easier and it makes this a more versatile product.

It heats up in about 1-2 minutes, and you can usually cook your sandwich in 2 minutes. The center will be warm and gooey and the outside will be perfectly crisp and golden brown, even if you over cook it. It's really ridiculously hard to screw things up.

The sides curve up a little bit to keep any drippings in the pan.

You clean it with a damp cloth while it's still somewhat hot.

Be sure to coat it in butter every month or so, then clean up the butter. If you do this (as they recommend), you will always have great sandwiches that come out golden brown. If you try to butter every sandwich, I've found that it's TOO MUCH butter and your sandwich won't be crispy, it'll be a little soggy.

Honestly the best one I've used and I've literally tried 5 different brands over the years. I got this for $45 at walmart a year ago, but these days I don't think they sell them there anymore. MUST BUY.

  7. I had this grill for over a year now and my opinion has not changed. It's well made with excellent quality. Not sure what I like about it the most; no groves, makes a perfect hot sandwich or that it is so easy to clean. I wish that Imusa would make a flat surface grill to cool burgers or steaks. Would try it on this one if it had a temperture control and a way to drain off the fat.

  8. This sandwich maker is great for grilled cheese, grilled subs, grilled burritos. Everything I make in it is ready in just minutes! I haven't stop using it since I got it and it has been a great investment. Heats up in just a couple of minutes. It doesn't have a way to adjust the temperature.
