Progressive International Microwavable Breakfast Sandwich

I have made over a dozen Gluten-Free loaves with the Home Bakery Supreme 2-Pound-Loaf Breadmaker. The dough rises beautifully - nicely browned tops, domed beautifully. I found the three "homemade" cycles exactly what I needed. Most of the GF recipes/mixes I use specifically state "do no use GF cycles" available on other bread machines - so that particular feature is not missed, would have been a waste actually. I used a modified version of the settings I found from other comments here as well as from Annalise Roberts book.

I did read some negative comments but I have not experienced any of these issues - no excessive noise, absolutely rock solid on the kitchen counter, even browning and trivially simple to program and use.

I HIGHLY recommend this bread machine - my experience has been with GF bread but I can't imagine gluten tolerant folks having anything but the same great experience.

  1. I love this thing. Breakfast sandwiches come out great, they are fast and easy. My kids love them too. Yes, the clean up could be easier, but given that the whole process takes 2 minutes, 3 minutes to clean in't that bad. I make 4 of them for the family, so I clean up after all of them are made. It really couldn't be easier.

  2. Gave a couple of these to coworkers who'd started Weight Watchers and needed a good breakfast - one you can make at work if you have a microwave. Works great. Easy to clean up. A winner all around.

  3. The wife bought it so I decided I wouldn't like it. She showed me how to use after 5 days of my pouting in the kitchen because it wouldn't work right. After I followed her wonderful instructions I am a master of poached eggs. So easy to use. If you are too stubborn to read the directions, call my wife and she will set you straight.

  4. I don't often write reviews but I love this thing. I learned the hard way that my microwave doesn't like this on full power. Exploding eggs! Also, I lightly scramble the eggs (or use egg beaters) so that they cook more evenly. Spray lightly with PAM, cook on half power for 3 minutes (2 minutes for 1 egg), and voila! Awesome. Also I use Morningstar veggie patties instead of real meat. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

  5. I bought one at Target on an impulse because I was hungry for an egg mcmuffin but don't trust McDonald's.

I just tried it and liked it so much I ordered two more here for gifts.

It makes two. One egg, one lean piece of Canadian Bacon and one English Muffin with no butter or grease and I think it qualifies as healthy! The best Canadian Bacon for this comes from Costco. Have fun.

  6. I just finished making the first egg muffin out of this goofy thing and I guarantee I will be making more. I was given one of those full size egg muffin makers that toasts, poaches and heats (not cooks) breakfast meats, takes up a ton of counter space, takes forever to cook and only makes 1 at a time. It died quickly and I refused to spend that kind of money to replace it. I saw this and thought it had to be worth a try, it was cheap enough. I am so glad I did. Was so easy a monkey could do it and took about 2 mins start to finish. Some of the other reviews point out that a film of egg gets under the lifter, true but my thumbnail and a paper-towel got it all off in less than 10 secs. I am going to buy more to give to my family.

  7. This works exactly as intended. Not tough to clean if you rinse the egg holders afterward. The only thing I would change would be to make the circular egg holder area larger, so that the cooked eggs fit better on an english muffin. I'd rather they be thinner and wider. Still, I'm very happy with this and have used it several times. Makes breakfast so much quicker.

  8. This sandwich maker works great! I use precooked bacon from Costco, and two sandwiches are ready in less than 3 minutes. Everyone is happy. I only wish they'd make a 4-egg one so the whole family could eat at once. You can put cheese on top of the eggs as they cook so it's nicely melted. This pan does take a little bit of attention to clean, but nothing too strenuous. Spray the egg cups and lifters with Pam first and the leftover egg comes off very easily. And a piece of paper towel would keep the bacon from making such a mess. I recommend this to all fans of breakfast.
