Read First Before Buy Berndes Die Cast Aluminum Nonstick Bread
The George Foreman grill is one of those items you see it yard sales per $10-$15 used maybe once. It's one of those items that people think is a hoax-a hack, but amazingly it's one of those items that works. The fact that you can get a brand new one for $15 is amazing. Sometimes you can even get a brand new one on Amazon for 10 that's crazy go nuts!
It is my recommendation by one of these grills and make grilled cheese. It's amazing, done in less than seven minutes, or try a frozen chicken breast from frozen to juicy and done in less than 10 minutes. Perfect for bachelors or moms with bachelors in training or moms married to bachelors. You get the point.
So give it a shot perfect in what it does. I liked it so much upgrade to a larger size (know I didn't buy the company), and I use it everyday.
And yes I do know that he has six children named George crazy go nuts
This pan will live in your kitchen for many years and pass down the next bread-baking generation. It's such a wonderfully sturdy pan, I can't imagine what you could do to hurt it, if you tried.
BalasHapusThe diameter of the loaf is standard (Wonder) bread sized so sandwiches fit into sandwich bags and toaster slots. The slicing grooves are a big help.
Wish Amazon carried more pans by this maker. (They do, actually, but the little booklet that comes with this pan shows more really great styles. The little recipe booklet made me wish I could read German.)
I am so happy that I purchased this at the beginning of my bread baking journey so I was spared the common trial and error purchasing. This is the only pan I need for baking loaves of bread and I am not interested in any other pan for the purpose now that I own this one. This is the one and only pan for me.
BalasHapusLoaves come out beautifully without the pan being buttered and floured first. The indentations are always clear and make slicing so easy. I especially like being able to have thin and thick slices from the same loaf.
Although I am wary of aluminum and of nonstick, I bought this because of the price - it is half the price of Matfer Bourget's pain de mie pan with cover. I want to make sliced white bread.
BalasHapusMade in Germany. The "recipes included" are in Italian and German. Their American customer service doesn't seem to know much but did say refer to this as TEFLON coated (oh, no). I oiled before the first use.
This size fits the recipe for 2 lbs of dough.
I plan to use this at least once a week. Tightwad Gazette suggests making one loaf of bread per week. This pan takes the place of purchasing both the pain de mie pan with cover from Matfer Bourget AND the Kaiser half-round mold with the ridges for slicing.
The loaf flipped right out. What a dramatic effect.
