I love grilled cheese sandwiches. I made them for years in a frypan with the plate on top. I see some reviewers can't seem to get a good grilled cheese from this machine. I have used it for 6 years and have gotten perfect sandwiches. Its simple and easy. Very lightly spread margarine (not right out of a cold refrigerator) on both slices. Then add a THIN layer of cheese between the unbuttered sides. Cook for 6 minutes. The outside will be crunchy and the cheese melted. When finished, close the lid and let it cool completely. If there is any residue, it will flake off with your fingers. NEVER wash the surface with soap and water. You want the surface to become "seasoned" just like a wok.
These machines were not designed for Texas toast or other thick/heavy breads. If you feel you have to press too firmly to close the lid, slice off the crust first.

Got one in Belgium and found it so useful to have in the kitchen that whilst organising a visit to a friend in Florida, I ordered the Melitta on-line and had it sent to him. Great price. Great sandwiches - fast and easy. I definitely recommed it. Handy to have at home for both young and old.

And now that he can cook for himself, this is all he has asked for. They are great,fast and easy! You can cook so much and so many different things on these. I would go so far as to say these are one of the greatest things invented! Everyone needs one!!! Thank You!
