Read First Before Buy Tovolo Star Ice Molds Green
I purchased my set locally, and on the box it stated that particular set was BPA free, yet I do not find any mention of it on the description here on Amazon. I did some searching on Amazon for more popsicle molds from this company and found that other popsicle forms from this same company did state it (ex. "Tovolo Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6" stated BPA free). Being 'BPA free' is an important feature for me, I wish the company would make sure it was stated in the description if that is true for this particular set featured on Amazon.
It does make what I consider a large popsicle (about the size of a Rocket Pop), and that's alright with me! The ridges allow me to quickly bite off bits at a time. I can use a teaspoon to drop in ingredients. An individual mold can stand up on a flat surface; it does not have to be in the star stand. If I don't eat it all at once, I can simply put it back into the mold and place it back in the freezer.
I researched quite a bit before making this purchase and I'm so glad I did! The Tovolo popsicle molds are fantastic!! They are easy to use, easy to clean and they have used non-leaching plastic which makes me very happy (I contacted Tovolo directly to confirm this)!
BalasHapusThe size of the popsicles is rather large -- but we've been making healthy fruit-yogurt smoothie pops at home and my three year old can easily polish off an entire popsicle... so the size isn't a problem!!
Be sure to leave a half an inch or so when filling the popsicles or as they expand in the freezer they may spill over. That happened to us once, but the base captured the spill over so the clean up was really easy. They do take up quite a bit of space in the freezer when they are first freezing, but as long as you leave adequate space when you first fill them (so they don't spill over and get sticky), you can remove them from the base and tuck them anywhere in your freezer.
This is a fantastic summer cooking "tool"... and we've been giving them to our friends as presents and so far, everyone else has loved them too!
These are VERY well made. They are NOT thin cheap plastic. After freezing my "fruit-juice-sicles", I remove them from the stand and lay them down to make more room in my freezer. (They are for a 66 year old woman who does not want all the chemicals that are in the store-bought popsicles.)

Terrific pop molds - good size (about 3 oz per pop), fun shape, and, if you run water over the frozen mold and give it a little squeeze, it pops right out. My nephew's girlfriend had a great idea - freeze orange juice in them, and have one with breakfast. Fabulous!

BalasHapusI swear you MUST buy these if you are tring to lose weight. Buy your favorite flavor of Crystal Light. Mix it with less water than the directions suggest. Drop some diced fruit into each popsicle form. Add the (strong) Crystal Light and freeze the pops. Something about the flavor and the texture is totally satisfying. Trust me. You will lose weight. Bon Apetite!
BalasHapusThese popsicle molds are not only good-looking, but also solid and sturdy. They fit into their base firmly, which you wouldn't know by looking at the picture. I love that they can be individually removed from the base as well as individually filled with whatever you want. I fill mine with yogurt sweetened with orange juice, stevia, and fresh fruit chunks. This makes for a much healthier snack than the popsicles you can buy at the grocery store.
BalasHapusthese molds are the best!!! i was worried i might have a problem getting them out of the mold, but they come out so easily. i use them for yogurt, also sugar free instant puddings. so nice to have the flavors we want.
