Read First Before Buy Norpro Cast Bacon Grill Press
When I had to remove gluten from my diet, the food that I missed the most was bread. If you have ever tried the expensive tapioca bread that is hermetically sealed and shipped here from Japan, you know that commercial gluten-free breads might be OK for toast, but do not do a sandwich justice. I found some appetizing gluten-free bread recipes on the internet that had been formulated for bread machine use. I had always made bread the old-fashioned way, but gluten free breads don't hold up like wheat breads and are hard to shape and rise. I broke down and bought this bread machine from Amazon based on good reviews from others, and I have been really satisfied. I have tried 2 different recipes and made them about a dozen times. It's foolproof - put the ingredients in and press the button, and 3 hours later you have fresh bread. Each time I have made the breads I have been pleased with a consistent product that actually tastes like bread and has the right texture.
I also purchased "The Gluten-Free Gourmet Bakes Bread" by Bette Hagman from Amazon. Her recipes are calibrated for three different size loaves. This bread maker does best with the medium-size loaf ingredient list.
I bought this for my boyfriend last year at Christmas and he loves it. He's talked about it so much his mom wanted one so he gave her one this year. Good quality at a reasonable price and can be used for MANY other things besides just bacon. Every cook should have this in their kitchen.

BalasHapusI have always wanted one of these. It is just perfect. Makes my bacon easier to fit in my homemade bacon, egg and cheese sammies.
BalasHapusThis cast iron press should not be called a Bacon press because the uses are endless, from bacon to sausage, to griled cheese sandwiches and much more. The quality is old world and the handle is real wood. I love it.
BalasHapusThis is a great product truly does squish bacon flat, you need to wash it after you use it and spray with PAM to keep it from discoloration, would recommend buying two at once if you need to cook more than 3 or so strips of bacon at a time.
BalasHapusUsing it mostly on Sauages...cause my turkey bacon isn't thick enough. Works Wonderfully! I'm so glad I got it.
BalasHapusPerfect for Bacon or Grilled cheese sand. As with all cooking aids for the Stove or Grill this will "Season" in time and those little crevis holes will fill up a little that's only normal. Just clean the best you can and be happy with what you got or just hang it on the wall. I Pre-Season mine with cooking oil first, pre-heat my press, then blot with a paper towel, Be careful not to burn yourself! This is only my opinion not advice. Our family loves this press.

It's heavy as it should be, the handle is not designed weird and doesn't cause you to burn youself, and it does it's job. I don't eat bacon much, but I use it for grilled sandwitches and other foods I want to press down. It's cast iron, so you don't put it in the dishwasher and need to keep a light coat of oil on it at all times. For those who had problems cleaning it I don't know what to say. Yes, there are small areas to get into... but I clean as I use it, so it's never been a problem.
