Breadman BK1060S Professional Collapsible Automatic

When I had to remove gluten from my diet, the food that I missed the most was bread. If you have ever tried the expensive tapioca bread that is hermetically sealed and shipped here from Japan, you know that commercial gluten-free breads might be OK for toast, but do not do a sandwich justice. I found some appetizing gluten-free bread recipes on the internet that had been formulated for bread machine use. I had always made bread the old-fashioned way, but gluten free breads don't hold up like wheat breads and are hard to shape and rise. I broke down and bought this bread machine from Amazon based on good reviews from others, and I have been really satisfied. I have tried 2 different recipes and made them about a dozen times. It's foolproof - put the ingredients in and press the button, and 3 hours later you have fresh bread. Each time I have made the breads I have been pleased with a consistent product that actually tastes like bread and has the right texture.

I also purchased "The Gluten-Free Gourmet Bakes Bread" by Bette Hagman from Amazon. Her recipes are calibrated for three different size loaves. This bread maker does best with the medium-size loaf ingredient list.

  1. Makes homemade bread very easy. Easy to program. Easy to keep clean. Would recommend to anyone who would like to make their own bread.

  2. I have made gluten-free bread every week since my Breadman arrived. It is wonderful to have bread, that actually tastes like bread, again! (By the way, this is the first review I've ever felt worth my time to write!). The machine comes with an easy to understand instruction manual that includes recipes. And, the machine makes yummy jams which is a plus. I plan on putting it to good use over the Holdays!

  3. First breadmaker I've owned. Makes great bread easily and dependably. I usually use the dough setting, so that I can form, proof and bake the bread outside the machine.

I have made 50+ loaves and the pan is undamaged by the mixer. Teflon is poisonous, so if your pan is damaged, don't continue to use it. Contact the manufacturer and get a replacement pan.

The recipe book was alright, I bought a number of breadmaking cookbooks, and everything comes out great with this machine.

  5. I couldn't be happier with the Breadman BK1060S 2-Pound Professional Bread Maker with Collapsible Kneading Paddles and Automatic Fruit and Nut Dispenser! I've made half a dozen loaves using packaged mixes and I've had nothing but great luck with this machine.

This is my second go-round with an automatic bread maker. I purchased one of these units (not manufactured by Breadman) when they first appeared on the market many years ago, and it failed to perform on every attempt. I returned it. Recently I decided to buy another and after looking around decided on this model.

Success! The Breadman makes it stupid-simple to generate great results...but again, I can only comment on its performance with pre-packaged bread mixes. It's just a matter of placing the ingredients into the pan, make setting selection, and hitting the start button. Highly recommended!
