Best Review on Calphalon 1759546 Electric Panini Grill
I have a husband, a 16 yo daughter and a 10 year old son and we just cooked our first meal with the Corn Dog Maker. We loved it. The booklet recommended that we grease the surface but it was so non stick we did not do that after the first batch. We could see the hotdogs in our first batch but none of us cared and by filling it less full, subsequent batches had the batter around the hot dog. Yes, sometimes they did not brown as much on top because we had it less full but in all cases they were fully cooked and tasted great. We just used Jiffy corn bread mix for the corn dogs and we also used it to to make pickles. We used spears. Just like other reviewers said, this does not make full size corn dogs...they are 1/2 dog each. We used Hebrew brand reduced fat dogs...and they were perfect to cut in half. We used regular pickle spears and had to cut an inch off. I am very excited to try another batter as well as make pancake/sausage on a stick. We are trying to have variety and eat healthy as a family and while I hate gimmicks, I LOVED THIS! We liked the mini donut maker (the kids more than I) but they make donuts that do not taste like real donuts. The corn dogs though were more similar in taste to a real corn dog...and I prefer them more as they are nongreasy. The recipe book only has a recipe for cornbread batter as well as a way to make a batter with a mix...but you will only be limited by your imagination. For dieters, use leftover corn bread mix to make mini corn bread sticks. Make mini cakes. They say you could bake a snickers in something...I don't know how that would work size wise. I can easily see making cheese sticks though...and I will think of more things to do with this...

BalasHapusI haven't met panini that I didn't like, yet! This is a GREAT sandwich maker! I haven't used it for grilling meat, because I like to keep the mess on the outdoor gas grill. The sandwiches come out evenly cooked to perfection-no flipping sandwiches and having all the fillings fall out!. It fits 2 large panini. You can adjust the height to fit the thickness of your sandwich. It's easy to clean-just wipe with a damp cloth while warm. Locks shut and easy to store. A nice little investment for your kitchen. ~ I also purchased through Amazon the cookbook, 'Panini' by Jennifer Joyce. Majority of the recipes have 5 fillings or less. Includes breakfast and dessert panini.
BalasHapusMakes an excellent panino. Unit's small size is perfect for 2 standard sandwiches and since it grills on both sides at the same time (no flipping) you can pile up a fairly messy sandwich with no worries. Heats up quickly, grills fast (minimizing energy use) and cleans up easily if you wipe it down while still warm. Stores in our cupboard nicely and looks great next to our Calphalon waffle maker! We'll use this only for panini; grilled some pork chops and they turned out great but clean-up was more of a hassle.
