Best Review on Norpro Inch Nonstick Bread Pan

Norpro Inch Nonstick Bread Pan

I stopped buying store-bought bread about a month ago, and we eat home-baked bread exclusively now. It was a bit of a learning curve! Especially trying to find a good loaf size/shape. The recipe I use says it makes two small loaves, or one large loaf. First, I used a regular bread pan and divided my dough into two loaves. Which came out to be rather short and fat. Next, I used the full batch of dough to make one loaf in a regular bread pan. That is some BIG bread! The slices were too wide and tall to fit into a standard toaster or a sandwich-size ziplock. Back to the drawing board. I contemplated reducing my recipe by 25% in hopes of making a more normal shaped loaf, but that still wouldn't take care of the width of the bread.

I started looking online for a narrow bread pan, and this is what I found. I've used it for two weeks in a row now (I bake a loaf every Sunday) and it makes the perfect size loaf. I use the full batch of dough, and roll it to the length of the pan before the second rise. The loaf comes out perfect! It is about the size and shape of a standard sandwich loaf you get from the grocery store.

TL;DR Version: Makes a loaf about the size of a standard sandwich loaf from the grocery store :) The nonstick coating is also pretty nice, I had no problems with the dough sticking.

  1. As a mom of 10 and an avid cook, I'm always looking for gear that lets me to easily cook on a large scale. Other bread pans I own make short wide loaves of bread that yield slices too huge for the average 'kid' serving. I can get 24 well-proportioned slices from ONE loaf made in these pans-- that's a dozen sandwiches from one loaf. So far I've made two kinds of yeast bread in these pans, and both have released effortlessly. The pans wash up easily as well. I'm very satisfied with these pans, and am very glad I bought three.

  2. These are heavy duty, well built solid bread pans. I have used them many times now and I am very pleased with their performance. I spray with pam before filling with dough, the bread always comes out clean and easily.

  3. I have been making bread for 2 years now. Someone recommended these and said they made loaves shaped more like store bought! I use a hard white wheat bread and this pan is designed to give such a beautiful rise to the bread. I was seriously impressed when it came out of the pan but when I went to slice them I fell in love! It was the best bread I have ever made and eaten!!! I purchased two of these originally (picture shows two but its only for one) and I will be buying two more!

  4. I now have 6(six) NOR PRO pans with the addition of the last two.
I recently gave these pans a work out,
I baked 24 loaves of quick bread in 4 days.
These pans bake well, and clean up is easy.
    They are reasonably priced.
This longer and narrower pan is pertect for pot lucks.
I am very pleased with the results.

We go through 2 of these 12-inch-size loaves of honey whole wheat bread in a week, so these pans have already lived up to their usefulness and beyond. They're great -- a nice size, create a nice crispy crust, and cook evenly. I grease mine with butter or vegetable oil before the bread goes in, just so it'll come out more easily, but it's probably not 100% necessary. I'd definitely buy these again and/or recommend them to a friend.

  6. I had read about these on a food blog and wanted to give them a try since I love homemade bread. The first time I used them, I didn't increase the size of the recipe. While it worked fine, I wanted a bigger overall loaf, so the next time I used them, I made a recipe and a half, and it worked perfectly. The non-stick is great; all of my loaves come out just right. I would recommend these. Just keep in mind you might want to experiment some with your recipe to get it just right for the longer size of pan.

  7. I use these pans to make my 2lb loaves of bread - for my family, and for the bread I sell. The slices are the perfect sandwich size (unlike the short, wide bread pans, which yield slices way too big), and they fit into the toaster way better than the wider loaves.
    Recommend these pans highly!

  8. I love this bread pan. I often use the "Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day" recipe and the bread was often flatter than I'd wanted. This little pan has been great. It gives the bread the support it needs to come out in a nice little loaf and it browns very easily. I just spray mine with a bit of Pam first, then let the bread rise in the pan. It makes a good sandwich size loaf. I have used a recipe called Amish White Bread that I found on allrecipes, and it came out as close to storebought bread as I've got yet. Clean up has been super easy. Really there is not much - I just rinse it and dry it and that's it.
