Read First Before Buy EasyLunchboxes 3 compartment Containers BPA Free Easy Open
I bought 3 cooler bags and a set of containers last summer right before school started. After packing approximately 3500 lunches since my oldest started school, I felt like I'd finally found the perfect system to make the job easier. One container, one lid, and lunchbox that holds it all perfectly! There was an issue with two lids chipping, but after chatting with Kelly (the creator), she is sending me replacement lids. Great product and great customer service! If you have problems with leaking, the best way to fix it is to use the cooler bag made to go with the containers. Using a lunchbox that is held by the side just won't work if you want to pack lunches containing more than just a sandwich with dry sides, which we never have in our lunches. With the Easylunchboxes cooler bag, the containers sit flat in the cooler and we don't have a problem with leaking ever, even with applesauce and yogurt. I have two jr. high boys and a rising 4th grader. The boys ride the bus and then throw their lunchboxes into their lockers so they aren't overly easy with them. Just tell your child to sit the cooler down with the handle on top. It's not rocket-science really. Thank you Kelly for an excellent product!

BalasHapusI LOVE these containers. I had been using multiple, tiny tupperware containers that filled my sink every night, not to mention all the plastic baggies. . .I have tried the re-usable cloth pouches, bento boxes, etc. and not liked any of them. We use skip-hop lunch bags and I really wanted something that fit in them and was easy to use/clean. These lunch boxes make packing lunches so fast and easy, and they FIT in our skip-hop bags. I can pack mulitple items, like: fruit, sandwich, goldfish, even tubes of yogurt all in one container now. The kids love them too- they are easy to open and re-close after lunch. I would definitely recommend these!
BalasHapusFirst, I'll address what I'm guessing is likely to be the most common question/gripe . . . Yes, they are certainly worth whatever-multiple-of-the-cost of those nationally available ones (whatever name-brand you choose). These are different!
BalasHapusThey may be inexpensive enough that your blood pressue won't spike if/when your child loses one at school, but they are most certainly not 'take and toss.' You'll know that the moment you hold one; they're heavier, thicker, sturdier. We have had ours for a few weeks shy of a year now, and they still look/work like brand new. No stains, no etchy shadows, no warping at all (not the bodies, not the lids). I've never hand-washed them, they've been run through the dishwasher every time.
The only downside you may not know about to question/gripe . . . the lids are NOT water-tight (it is mentioned right there, under product features, but in case it gets missed or skipped over). I wasn't thrilled about that to begin with, but it's not such a drawback in my mind anymore. I can use press-n-seal wrap over the whole thing or individual section(s) if I need to, and it also means that the lid isn't so snug that my 4yo can't open it.
SO glad to see them available through Amazon now! With super-fast, free Prime shipping, I think we'll add another set into our rotation for next year (when there will be 2 packing daily lunches!).
I ordered these lunch boxes and carrier at the recommendation of my daughter over a year ago. She uses them for school lunches for her children. I use them for bringing lunches and snacks to work, the park, the beach and on road trips. They are sturdy, long lasting and meet my needs perfectly. Recently I ordered another set. I reported the order lost to the company, since I thought I had not received the shipment. Another order was immediately shipped to me at no charge. When I discovered that I had indeed received the first order (long story), I again emailed Kelly Lester, the company CEO, and apologized for my mistake, asked her to bill me for the second order, and told her I would give it to my other daughter now that she has a little one. Kelly responded promptly and told me to keep it with no charge for my honesty. This first-rate customer service is hard to find today! I encourage you to order these lunch boxes and know that you are getting both a high quality product and exceptional customer service from a company that puts customers first!
BalasHapusI've been using my ELBs for more than a year. Lunch 5 days a week, dishwasher every night - I microwave them often and they are in perfect condition. I bought mine through the site and they were twice what they are now on amazon, but still completely worth it. I use smaller lidded containers for wet ingredients (dip, yogurt, applesauce), but I also know people who swear that adding press n' seal or cling wrap makes them not leak. Fortunately, ELB will have a little lidded container available in August, so they will solve any leaking problems you might worry about and I am sure they will be high quality just like the lunch boxes.
BalasHapusLove these. I've had mine for over a year, and there is little to no wear on them. Unlike the "disposables" brands, they haven't warped after a few washings or after being reheated in the microwave. They don't easily bend or crush (although I haven't tried really really hard to destroy one yet either.) They are PERFECT for little kids eating in the car - they are large enough they don't slide around or tip too much on a lap, yet small enough to fit easily between the armrests of a child's car seat. (I keep one in my car at all times for the unplanned Happy Meal-in-the-car.) And because the lids come off easily enough for a child, they are also easy enough for a one-handed removal by Mommy while driving.
BalasHapusThe cooler bags (EasyLunchboxes Insulated Lunch Cooler Bag, Aqua) for these are also worth getting, not only because they fit perfectly (you can fit 2 plus an ice pack, or 3 without) but because they fit FLAT to prevent tipping, and the strap is short, which makes it harder for kids to swing their lunch bag around and destroy their lunch!
As for all the 'but they LEAK!' complaints, first off, they are designed to be carried flat. If you can get a glass of water from one end of your house to the other, you can manage to not spill your lunch all over itself. But since kids aren't always so careful, you can use a slip of wax paper or some plastic wrap between the container and lid over the compartment with the 'leaky food' and it helps create a better seal. Or just use a separate small container for the really leaky stuff that day. If for some reason your lid keeps popping off, 25cents worth of elastic and some hand-sewing with a little repair kit can make you a nifty little band to help keep it shut. And if you're only needing to pack ONE box in a cooler at a time, the BUILT Neoprene Spicy Relish Lunch Tote, Black holds one box snugly (laying flat,) with room for an ice pack underneath and a can or drink pouch/box on top. Plus usually a piece of fruit as well.
But anything truly 'leak-proof' is also pretty much 'little-kid proof.' My daughter is 3.5, and she can't open Tupperware, Ziploc, Gladware, etc. But she can do this all by herself. And get the lid back on. She has managed to prize off a Rubbermaid container lid when she was highly motivated (there were cupcakes inside) but no way could she seal it back up, which would be desirable for the return trip home! And while the Ziploc ones ARE water tight, they were a real hassle to open and seal. At one point I was banging it against the counter... until after a few washings, that is. Then the lid was too warped to seal properly.

BalasHapusIt's so simple, it's brilliant! My kids' lunches are served HOW I PACKED THEM... not squished up from being in a vertical-shaped lunchbox. Even better, the compartments are perfectly sized - the largest holds a sandwich snugly, so you never need to use baggies or environmentally wasteful plastic wraps or foil. The smaller compartments are great for fresh fruit, cheese, pretzels or a special treat... the possibilities are endless. Mornings are definitely easier and the lunch-packing routine has been streamlined. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!
