Works Great

Best Review on Winegard Company FL 5000 FlatWave Digital

Winegard Company FL 5000 FlatWave Digital

I have been living without the expense of cable for nearly 4 years now, and, as God as my witness, I will NEVER return. I have used a variety of small antennae in this time--from various rabbit ears and a few flat panel types (never had much luck with the flat types). We really wanted a hidden antenna and, after reading the reviews of this one, we bought it. It arrived today and I installed it a few hours ago.

Holy. Living. Puck.

I was nearly at a loss for words. Not only were all of our channels crystal clear (with no wiggling of rabbit ears, and no knob turning), but we actually picked up 16 new stations (granted, they were all some version of public tv from nearby cities).

I do not work for this company, I do not work for Amazon. I am but a humble public school physics teacher. But I really cannot speak highly enough of this antenna.

And perhaps best of all, it hides right behind a quilt we have hanging on the wall!!!

  1. Hi all,

    I just bought one of these a 3 weeks back and installed it and have been using it for the last two weeks. I went from a powered Phillips hdtv antenna that sometimes worked better without the power amplifier and sometimes would not work at all. I plugged this in and was prepared to have to hang it or move it around. But all I did was lay it on shelf below the tv and WOW. I was able to get more stations without drops or any problems, this is a great antenna, I dont know why it wouldnt work for some, but it sure worked for me.

  2. Love this antenna. We have a woods across street (south) which interferes with TV reception.
    Upon hook up, we got the local 14 channels. Thank you!!!!

  3. After trying three different indoor antennas with varying results, I spent another $40 on one last try to avoid putting in a roof antenna. This was the best $40 I have spent on home entertainment. With some experimentation, I found it to work best taped against a front window. In this position, I was able to receive two additional local independent channels giving me a total of 19 channels. These channels that the other antennas missed are close to 25 miles from the broadcast towers. Although reception will falter in windy weather, most of the time the reception is excellent. Best of all, this product is not made in China like all of RCA and the others that I tried, but made right here in the USA. It has a nice long cord which was why I chose it over the Leaf after reading reviews. I don't think an outdoor antenna would do much better after studying all of the websites. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Finally I can stop searching for the right antenna.

  5. I recently switched or tried to switch from cable to DirecTV. The installer told me they couldn't get a strong enough signal and wouldn't install DirecTV at my residence. The cable company was going to charge me an arm and a leg to re-install my cable, so I decided to purchase a Winegard Company FL-5000 FlatWave HDTV Indoor Digital Flat Antenna.

    Before purchasing the Winegard FlatWave, I bought and tried a Terk HDTV antenna with minimal results. I kept having to move their unit to even get a strong enough signal for any stations.

    I then purchased the Winegard Company FL-5000 FlatWave HDTV Indoor Digital Flat Antenna after researching on the internet. This antenna is small, compact and powerful. Plugged it in and scanned the channels (with the antenna on the floor, I might add), and in less than 5 mins I was watching crystal clear HDTV. I live in Des Moines, IA which has not only UHF broadcast frequencies but also a VHF channel and the Flatwave is picking it up when the Terk did not.

    A++ on this new design.

  6. Very thin and compact, worked great letting me receive high def television from my local TV stations. The paper thin size allowed me to hide it behind a book case near my TV. Most friends that have watched TV with this antenna can't believe that it's not cable vision, and the picture is crystal clear. The only negative that I see is that when there is stormy weather with lots of wind and you are around lots of trees as I am, you will get a small amount of pixelation/audio drop out. Even with this minor glitch, I have found my new antenna to be well worth the price, and quality of reception, not to mention being able to walk away from the monthly large cable tv bills.
